Mary Jo's Birthday - Savannah/Hilton Head

Rick, Mary Jo, and Liz in a Savannah graveyard.
What a great vacation!  Liz, Jack, and I flew down to Savannah on the 9th.  We met Rick and Mary Jo in Savannah and spent Saturday and Sunday touring the city.  Jack was very good on the flight there.

Jack was obsessed with this statue of Ponce de Leon or Fernando Vasquez or some explorer.
Monday we left Savannah and drove to Hilton Head where the rest of the family met up for Mary Jo's 70th birthday.  It was great to spend time with a completely united Ungerman family.  It has been a while since everyone had been together at the same time and we really appreciated our time there.

Once we got to the island, life was very simple.  We got up every morning and went to the beach.  We came back to our villa for Jack's nap around 1, went to the pool, and then went to dinner.  Brutal days!

Jack was very focused on his work in the sand and each day produced a bigger masterwork that he built (completely on his own).  He also LOVED the waves and spent a good deal of his time standing in the water letting the waves crash against him while he laughed and hugged Mom or Dad.

We also had a great dinner with Brendan's Uncle Bob, Aunt Suzanne, Cousin Tammy and second cousin Morgan.  Jack like holding Morgan's hand a lot.

Jack spent a great deal of time chasing his cousins Henry and Bella around and was clearly enthralled by them.  It was great to see what was really his first true interaction with his cousins.  He also had his first bike ride with mom and dad switching off turns driving him around.  He really liked this.

We had a wonderful dinner and birthday celebration for Mary Jo at the Old Fort Pub.  We left Monday the 18th after a very relaxing week.

Great seeing everyone again!

I severed both of my legs below the knee while we were there.  Fortunately I got them stitched up and felt much better by the end of the trip.

In case you were wondering - he got my skin tone, not Liz's.

Liz turned 25+10 this year.  For the big day we flew down to Scottsdale for the weekend.  We left Jack with cousin Amy and took our first overnight weekend away since Jack was born.  We went to the JW Marriott Camelback Inn which was beautiful.  It was very odd to not have to pack bottles and diapers everywhere we went that weekend.  Although we had very ambitious plans to go hiking and explore the desert landscape, we decided instead to sit by the pool and go the spa all day.  Overall it was a great, extremely relaxing weekend that was very needed!
